As with Pay to Skip, your real money buys you coins and power-ups to keep playing, and your wins don't add up to in-game currency enough on their own that you can keep playing.
There is an occasional deal to buy coins and power-ups for a lower price once a week or so. A small purchase still only allows you to play a few games, because you never win enough to keep playing.
You can collect a small amount of coins and an even smaller amount of power-ups every four hours. If you want to play more than a couple of times a week, you can buy endlessly to receive coins and power-ups to keep playing.
In order to get any bonuses at all above the bare minimum, you are required to fill a bar over 60 days that brings you to a higher level, which amounts to having to pay once or twice monthly. It's still possible to play for free, but only occasionally, not regularly.
There is a slot machine game that you can access at any time, where you can spin to the point where you have nothing left. (I've never done that.)
As you level up, the costs of playing the higher levels are higher, with no discernible increase in winnings.
You can get awards and rewards for completing tasks in bonus games, and upon completion of a "bingo room". I never thought this was a problem, but I've now been playing four years, and have yet to finish a final achievement on at least two of the rooms. It seems impossible.

I'm not finding that the achievements in this game are at all a problem, though they are arbitrary (find X things/creatures in the bonus games, get bingos using the centre free square, etc.). There are tons, but whether you have them or not is not a requirement to continue in the game, and there is never any reason you can't quit and start new games later.
