You can spend money on gold which allows you to buy credits which you need to advance your collection level.
Competition reported on Jan 15, 2023
Competition is the core of the game (which is fine) but can create the desire to have more cards, especially if you loose against a powerful combo of cards that will require you to keep playing the game for several months or shorten that time by spending money.
Fear of Missing Out reported on Jan 15, 2023
You are more likely to get newer, more powerfull cards when you are close to have a full collection of cards, so the game encourrages you to keep playing regularly.
Aesthetic Manipulations reported on Jan 15, 2023
The Snap mechanic is emphasized by the feedback, also winning and loosing cubes needed to rank up is showcased in a way that aggravates losses and wins so you are encourraged to play more and "cut your losses" or "keep you the winning streak".

If you spend more you get "better" deals on ingame currency and timed bundles usually are better deals than non-timed bundles.

To be fair it's to soon to say but judging on the cards we see appear in the season passes since release it sure seems like the game has power creep (which most similar games do).

You cannot buy loot boxes directly but the collection progress let's you unlock caches that are similar to loot boxes and designed to include a random elements to make opening them more desirable.

There is a monthly season pass that includes a card that usually defines the meta game for the month, thus creating a desire to own it.
